I am also trying to get everyone excited about box tops.... Do you think you could send me some materials to help me spark the need for box tops at Chicot Primary?

I read your post.  First contact BT to tell them you can't get into the coordinator section, and fix what is blocking you.  Get a dedicated looseleaf binder (from Avery, of course) and make sections. I have tabs that read: "Box Tops (I use this for contest numbers, misc. items), "Suggestions" (I find these from other coordinators on this website and Face Book. I cut and paste them to a wordpad and print, ready ideas when I'm drawing a blank), "Receipts and Shipping" (I use this for when I submit online and my UPS tracking sheets), "Box Topics" (Box Tops produces a newsletter that we can use online.  I make my additions in the Coordinator section and print them (I have someone that donates this as we are a paperless district) I keep a copy in my notebook for reference.)  I pre printed up blank Outstanding Contributions Award that I keep in a drop in plastic folder in my binder for a moments notice give out).  Adjust them to your needs.  I helps to keep all your stuff together, for PTA/PTO or Principal meetings.  I'm organized and ready.    Also PTA.org has a dedicated BT section to help.  Avery is good for templates too.  BT has the most stuff to help coordinators do a great job, but its still about us!  We have to market and raise interest.  My original letter told parents the benefits and opportunities with BT. I describe me and how to find me at school (I purchased through the BT coordinator store a blue BT polo).   I tell parents why they want to support the school (and me) through BTs.  I made posters at Staples of current on line contests.  I still promote signing up on line as a way to get 5 bonus points every time I speak about BTs.  I also write articles on what Jackson Elementary is doing with BTs for our local newspapers with pictures or the BT logo.  The letter will help the few that read it, its the first contest that gets the kids motivated.  Its winning a classroom decorated prize box that motivates.  It's the occassional student with the most contest that I run that locks it down.  Last school I pushed my limits and ran with  a K-2 and a 3-5 grade level contest.  Each grade collected 1881 BTs for a total of 3762 bts for a one and half month period (ususally my worst time with state testing and vacations).  We did really well with Labels for Education and My Coke Reward Points too (separte contest for them).   Good luck! Welcome to the wonderful world of coordinating !!  You just need to get out there and tell parents . Go to the open house , go to the PTA meetings , set up posters in the hallways , send out a letter to the parents , maybe your school could send out a mass email (due to confidentiality you may not get all of the email addresses) .  If your school has a monthly news letter see if you can put a small blurb in there .  As far as having someone come in and talk about what box tops can do for your school ... it's you , my dear !!  I know it is hard at first , we've all been there .  The first time or two can be scary especially if you are like me and the thought of public speaking scares the crap outta you ...LOL  LOL... it does get easier !!  Trust me ... I know .  Box tops ( milk caps & Tyson for us ) have helped our school a lot over the past few years ... ie :  new & replacement play ground equipment , books for the library , supplies for our Art, Phy Ed, & Music departments .  It can be used for field trips , classroom supplies , anything that benifits your kids at school .   Be brave , you CAN do it !!  Hope this helps you .

Happy collecting :
